What Form of Magnesium?
I have written on the benefits of magnesium, as there are PLENTY! I have failed to mention the different forms of magnesium and what each one is good for. Many people go to Walmart or Walgreens and buy cheap magnesium. Yes, you are getting some magnesium, but the problems lies with quality of magnesium. You will be getting the most plentiful magnesium out there (and a bunch of fillers and cardboard) which mainly helps with constipation. So, you will in essence think you can’t take magnesium because it gives you diarrhea. This is just not the case, it is they “type” or “brand” you are consuming.
Quality of the brand should be the first thing on your mind. It’s easy to run to the store and buy “affordable” vitamins. The problem is that cheap vitamins don’t really do anything for you. Unfortunately our food source today isn’t what it was 100 years ago. Our soil is depleted of vitamins and minerals and there are more and more pesticides being used on the crops.
I heard recently from an interview with a functional medicine doctor, that every person in the world should be using supplemental vitamins. Simple because of how terrible our food is and how much stress people are under. Stress is qualified as actual stress, chemical stress, environmental stress, etc. If you ate fully organic, drank plenty of water, got enough sleep every night, didn’t drink or smoke, exercised daily, got adjusted, and had no stress, then you may be able to skip supplements.
Forms of Magnesium
Magnesium glycinate: This form is well absorbed in the body and is well known for helping overall sleep quality. It also is the least likely to induce diarrhea.
Magnesium citrate: It is known as one of the most bioavailable forms of magnesium. This form helps get your bowels moving.
Magnesium chloride: Is the best form of magnesium to take for detoxing the cells and tissues. It aids kidney function and can boost a sluggish metabolism.
Magnesium oxide: This form helps pull water from the intestines to get the intestines moving. It also has been used to reduce stomach acid.
Magnesium lactate: It is very well absorbed in the body and is used for people who need very high doses of magnesium.
Magnesium sulfate: This is known as bath salts and helps with sore muscles.
Magnesium taurate: This is used in people with heart problems. It is known to prevent arrhythmias and guard the heart from damage caused by heart attacks.
Magnesium malate: This is a fantastic choice for people suffering from fatigue. It is a vital component of enzymes that play a key role in ATP synthesis and energy production.
The best kind of magnesium to take is one that has a portion of several kinds together. At my office I sell a magnesium that has a combination of chelate, citrate and malate. This seems to do very well with ailments and not give you extra trips to the bathroom. When looking for a good supplement, make sure to buy one that isn’t “cheap”. Do a little research on the supplement company. We only buy supplements from companies that we trust.

Chiropractic
Chiropractic care looks at full body wellness and what is at the root of the problem. Once you have established care, you can look at how the body functions past the chiropractic adjustment. The adjustment itself can completely change how you feel and sometimes take care of a lot of issues you are having.
A food diary can also be very helpful when trying to figure out some more complicated issues like fatigue or migraines. If you have questions on how chiropractic can help you, give us or a chiropractor near you a call! You are what you eat.
About 330 billion cells are replaced daily, equivalent to about 1 percent of all our cells. In 80 to 100 days, 30 trillion will have replenished—the equivalent of a new you. Starting today can lead to a new you in just a few short months!
